The program prioritizes families with a monthly income below 60000, those currently living in rented accommodations, and those below the poverty line. Individuals who already own a home will not be eligible.
Initial proposals from the housing department suggest that each apartment will cost approximately 1.5 million (15 lakh). To make these homes more accessible, the Punjab government plans to offer a 60% subsidy. This means eligible families must pay a 40% down payment and then manage the remaining amount through installments.
